Resolution

The resolution of this myth is when Thor jumps out of his disguise, grabs his hammer, and destroys the hall and the Frost giants.

Climax

In the myth, I feel the climax is when he goes into the hall to act as Freya.  Thor dressed up in a wedding gown to act as Freya because the ritual in a wedding is to hold a hammer above the bride.  And as they held the hammer above him, he jumped out of the disguise, grabbed the hammer, then destroyed the hall and the Frost Giants there.

Conflict

The conflict in this myth is the constant battle between Thor and the Frost Giants.  There is also the conflict of getting Mjollnir back, and not giving away the fact that he's Thor, not Freya.

Character Development

In this myth, Thor changes from acting as Freya, to being his normal self.  In the end he destroyed the Frost Giants in the hall, after he jumped out of the costume.

Setting

The setting of this myth is a hall in the Frost Giant's territory.  This is where Thor was posing as Freya to get married to the King of the Frost Giants, and get Mjollnir back.

Summary

         One day, Thrym, who is Thor's arch enemy and king of the giants, was able to take Mjollnir and refused to return it, unless, he got Freya, a beautiful goddess, to marry him.  When Thor told her the request, she denied the proposal harshly.  So almost in last resort to get Mjollnir back, he dressed up as the bride and walked into the wedding.  Thrym was astonished when he saw the appetite of the bride, but when he asked, they told him that she was not able to eat for a week due to her excitement to marry Thrym.  By the time the feast was over, Thor had consumed an entire ox and three barrels of wine.  When it came to the time to say their vows they proceeded to hold Mjollnir over Thor's head.  Thor then grabbed Mjollnir out of the air and took off his disguise.  He then used the hammer to smash the hall and all the giants.

Cultural Links

Hammer-Because of Thor's hammer, many cultures made it their duty to revolve some aspects of their lives around his hammer.  Like in some marriage ceremonies, they would hold a hammer above the bride's head.
The Avengers-Recently, Thor appeared in a very popular movie called the Avengers.  The movie involves a group of super heroes who group together to fight crime and protect the World.
Comics-Many times, does Thor appears as a superhero, not a god.  He appears in comics many times.
